IN 2009, OUR HIV CARE MODEL WAS EXPANDED TO INCLUDE GENERAL PRIMARY CARE, AND IN 2012 WAS DESIGNATED AS A FEDERALLY QUALIFIED HEALTH CENTER LOOK-ALIKE (FQHC-LA). FINALLY, IN 2015, APICHA CHC WAS RECOGNIZED AS A FEDERALLY QUALIFIED HEALTH CENTER (FQHC). TODAY, APICHA CHC PROVIDES A FULL RANGE OF MEDICAL, PREVENTIVE HEALTH, AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES. MEDICAL SERVICES INCLUDE: PRIMARY CARE; HIV MEDICAL CARE; PREP/PEP; TRANSGENDER HEALTH; WOMEN'S HEALTH; DENTAL CARE; PEDIATRIC CARE, MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER SERVICES. APICHA CHC IS A SAFE SPACE AND SAFETY NET FOR ITS FOUR TARGET POPULATIONS: APIS, HISPANICS/LATINX, LGBTQ+ INDIVIDUALS, AND PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). IN 2022, APICHA CHC OPENED A SATELLITE SITE IN JACKSON HEIGHTS, QUEENS, NEW YORK, TO ADVANCE THE PRIMARY CARE MODEL TO A DIVERSE COMMUNITY IN JACKSON HEIGHTS. THIS SITE IS MORE SPECIFIC TO AN ETHNICALLY DIVERSE POPULATION WITH IMMIGRANTS FROM SOUTH AND EAST ASIA AND LATIN AMERICA. IN 2023, AT APICHA CHC'S JACKSON HEIGHTS SITE, 87% OF PATIENTS IDENTIFIED AS BLACK, INDIGENOUS, AND OTHER PEOPLE OF COLOR (BIPOC). ACCESS TO CULTURALLY COMPETENT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES IS CRITICAL TO MEET THE COMMUNITY'S BEHAVIORAL HEALTH NEEDS. APICHA CHC'S JACKSON HEIGHTS SERVICE AREA IS A HIGHLY DIVERSE POPULATION COMPRISED OF 59.8% FOREIGN-BORN, AND ALMOST HALF (45.4%) OF THE POPULATION IS BEST SERVED IN A LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH. THE PERCENTAGE OF ADULTS WITHOUT HEALTH INSURANCE IN APICHA CHC'S QUEENS SERVICE AREA IS 16.5%, COMPARED TO 8.7% FOR THE COUNTY OF QUEENS. AT APICHA CHC'S JACKSON HEIGHTS SITE, ALMOST HALF OF THE PATIENTS (47%) ARE UNINSURED, WELL ABOVE THE SERVICE AREA AND COUNTY RATES. THIS LACK OF HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE IS A SIGNIFICANT BARRIER TO THE NECESSARY MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER SERVICES NEEDED IN THE COMMUNITY. RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT BLACK, LATINX, ASIAN, AND PACIFIC ISLANDERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING DEPRESSION ARE LESS LIKELY TO BE CONNECTED TO MENTAL HEALTHCARE THAN WHITE NEW YORKERS. UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS AVOID MENTAL HEALTH CARE DUE TO FEAR AND DISTRUST. ASYLUM SEEKERS AND REFUGEES EXPERIENCE HIGHER RATES OF DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, AND POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER. THE RATE OF PSYCHIATRIC INPATIENT SERIES IN QUEENS, NY, IN 2022 IS HIGHER THAN THE STATEWIDE RATE, 3.8 PER 10,000 VERSUS 3.4 STATEWIDE. JACKSON HEIGHTS HAS SEEN AN INCREASE IN OVERDOSE DEATHS INVOLVING OPIOIDS AND NON-FATAL OPIOID-RELATED HOSPITAL EVENTS FROM 79.1 PER 100,000 IN 2019 TO 96.4 PER 100,000 IN 2021. APICHA CHC SEEKS TO LEVERAGE THE BH EXPANSION GRANT TO EXPAND MUCH-NEEDED MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER SERVICES AT THEIR JACKSON HEIGHTS SATELLITE SITE IN QUEENS, NEW YORK. FOR THE PROPOSED PROJECT, APICHA CHC WILL UTILIZE HRSA FUNDS TO HIRE BILINGUAL STAFF TO MEET THE COMMUNITY'S NEEDS, INCLUDING 1.0 FTE PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER TO PROVIDE SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER (SUD) SERVICES, MEDICATION MANAGEMENT, AND SERVE PATIENTS WITH SEVERE MENTAL ILLNESS AND 1.0 FTE MEDICAL ASSISTANT TO SUPPORT THE PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER. APICHA CHC WILL ALSO HIRE 1.0 FTE LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER FOR COUNSELING SERVICES TARGETING THE LOW-INCOME, UNINSURED POPULATION AND 2.0 FTE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CASE MANAGERS/LMSWS TO CONNECT PATIENTS TO RECEIVE THE APPROPRIATE AND TIMELY MENTAL HEALTH AND SUD SERVICES. IN 2022, APICHA CHC OPENED A SATELLITE SITE IN JACKSON HEIGHTS, QUEENS, NEW YORK, TO ADVANCE THE PRIMARY CARE MODEL TO A DIVERSE COMMUNITY IN JACKSON HEIGHTS. NEED FOR EXPANDED HOURS: APICHA COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER (CHC) PROPOSES TO EXPAND ITS HOURS OF OPERATION AT ITS JACKSON HEIGHTS, QUEENS CLINIC. JACKSON HEIGHTS IS ONE OF THE MOST ETHNICALLY AND CULTURALLY DIVERSE NEIGHBORHOODS IN NEW YORK CITY. IT IS HOME TO A LARGE NUMBER OF IMMIGRANTS, PARTICULARLY LATINX/HISPANICS AND ASIANS, AND A THIRD OF HOUSEHOLDS HAVE LIMITED ENGLISH PROFICIENCY. OVER ONE-IN-FIVE (22%) OF RESIDENTS LIVE IN POVERTY, COMPARED WITH 18% FOR NYC OVERALL. ACCORDING TO THE NYC DOHMH, COMMUNITY HEALTH SURVEY, 2019-2020, 30% OF ADULTS HAVE NO HEALTH INSURANCE AND 14% OF ADULTS GO WITHOUT NEEDED MEDICAL CARE. AN ESTIMATED 15% OF LOW-INCOME RESIDENTS IN THE AREA ARE REACHED BY COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTERS, INDICATING THAT THIS IS A MEDICALLY UNDERSERVED AREA. TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY FOR EXPANDED HOURS, APICHA CHC CONDUCTED A STREET SURVEY OF PEOPLE LIVING OR WORKING IN JACKSON HEIGHTS (N=103). A MAJORITY OF THE RESPONDENTS WERE SPANISH SPEAKING. FORTY PERCENT FAVORED A CLOSING TIME AFTER 5:00 PM AND 50% PREFERRED SATURDAY HOURS. APICHA CHC ALSO SOUGHT INPUT FROM VOCES LATINAS, A COLLABORATING COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATION, THAT WORKS WITH LOW-INCOME LATINX AND RECENT IMMIGRANTS. VOCES LATINAS CLIENTS WHO ARE ASSISTED THROUGH THEIR NEW IMMIGRANTS CLINIC NEED TO ACCESS SERVICES AFTER 5:00 PM WHEN THEY RETURN FROM THEIR JOBS OR ON SATURDAYS. STUDIES HAVE REPORTED THAT EXTENDED HOURS TEND TO REDUCE NO-SHOW RATES. STUDIES ON THE ACCESSIBILITY OF STI CLINICS INDICATE THAT HOURS OF OPERATION WERE A SIGNIFICANT BARRIER TO SEEKING CARE. PROPOSED SERVICES: TO BETTER MEET THE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY WE SERVE, APICHA CHC PROPOSES TO EXTEND THE HOURS OF OPERATION AT ITS JACKSON HEIGHTS CLINIC TO PROVIDE PRIMARY MEDICAL CARE, DENTAL CARE, ENABLING SERVICES, AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES. PRIMARY MEDICAL CARE AND ENABLING SERVICES: HOURS WILL BE EXTENDED FROM 5:30 PM TO 7:00 PM ON WEDNESDAYS AND THURSDAYS. DENTAL CARE: HOURS WILL BE EXTENDED FROM 5:30 PM TO 7:00 PM ON WEDNESDAYS AND THURSDAYS, AND ADDITIONALLY, THE CLINIC WILL OPEN TWO SATURDAYS PER MONTH, FROM 9:00 AM TO 4:00 PM. MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES WILL BE EXTENDED FROM 5:30 PM TO 7:00 PM ON WEDNESDAYS. FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $500,000 IS REQUESTED TO PRIMARILY COVER STAFFING COSTS. WE PROVIDE A FULL RANGE OF MEDICAL, PREVENTIVE HEALTH, AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES. APICHA CHC IS CONTINUALLY LOOKING TO IMPROVE ITS QUALITY OF CARE AND THE EFFICIENCY OF ITS OPERATIONS. WE SERVE A PATIENT POPULATION WITH UNIQUE, OFTENTIMES COMPLEX, NEEDS AND WE OPERATE WITHIN AN ENVIRONMENT THAT IS HEAVILY DEPENDENT ON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY. AS SUCH, WE MUST ENSURE THAT WE HAVE A SUPPORTIVE INFRASTRUCTURE THAT CAN HANDLE THE DEMANDS OF SERVING OUR CLIENT BASE. TO THIS END, APICHA CHC’S PROPOSED IT INFRASTRUCTURE MODERNIZATION PROJECT WILL UPGRADE AND ADD REDUNDANCY TO THE AGENCY’S TECHNOLOGY-RELATED INFRASTRUCTURE AT ITS MANHATTAN CLINIC (400 BROADWAY, NEW YORK, NY 10013). WITH NETWORK REDUNDANCY, YOU HAVE MULTIPLE PATHS FOR INFORMATION TRAFFIC AND MORE BACK-UP OPTIONS, SO THAT DATA CAN KEEP FLOWING WITHOUT INTERRUPTION, WHICH WOULD PROVIDE STAFF WITH BETTER RELIABILITY AND PERFORMANCE. THE SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: ENSURING CONTINUOUS POWER FOR EQUIPMENT BY PROVIDING BACK-UP BATTERIES FOR SERVER ROOM EQUIPMENT; REMOVING EQUIPMENT THAT IS BEING UPGRADED, AND REWIRING CURRENT EQUIPMENT; ACHIEVING REDUNDANCY BY ESTABLISHING A SECOND IT CLOSET TO HOUSE A NEW SERVER; ACQUIRING UPGRADED AND REDUNDANT DEVICES (FIREWALLS/SWITCHES) THAT ARE KEY TO APICHA CHC'S NETWORK; MONITORING THE SERVER ROOM ENVIRONMENT TO ENSURE THE NETWORK EQUIPMENT IS SAFE AND CAN REMAIN OPERATIONAL; INSTALLING ADDITIONAL STORAGE AND MEMORY TO SERVERS; REPLACING CURRENT WIRELESS DEVICES WITH NEWER AND UPGRADED DE VICES; WIRING RUNS TO ALLOW FOR MORE PHYSICAL REDUNDANCY; AND UPGRADING WORKSTATIONS TO IMPROVE PRODUCTIVITY AND REDUNDANCY. THE PROJECT REQUIRES MINOR INTERIOR ALTERATION TO ALLOW FOR THE RUNNING OF LOW VOLTAGE (NETWORK) CABLES FROM THE 3RD FLOOR TO THE BASEMENT WHERE THE NEW BACKUP SERVER WILL BE LOCATED. COMPLETION OF THESE ACTIVITIES WILL RESULT IN AN IT INFRASTRUCTURE THAT HAS GREATER RESILIENCY AND RELIABILITY FROM A PHYSICAL-PLANT PERSPECTIVE. IN 2022, APICHA CHC OPENED A SATELLITE SITE IN JACKSON HEIGHTS, QUEENS, NEW YORK, TO ADVANCE THE PRIMARY CARE MODEL TO A DIVERSE COMMUNITY IN JACKSON HEIGHTS. THIS SITE IS MORE SPECIFIC TO AN ETHNICALLY DIVERSE POPULATION WITH IMMIGRANTS FROM SOUTH AND EAST ASIA AND LATIN AMERICA. IN 2023, AT APICHA CHC'S JACKSON HEIGHTS SITE, 87% OF PATIENTS IDENTIFIED AS BLACK, INDIGENOUS, AND OTHER PEOPLE OF COLOR (BIPOC). ACCESS TO CULTURALLY COMPETENT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES IS CRITICAL TO MEET THE COMMUNITY'S BEHAVIORAL HEALTH NEEDS. APICHA CHC'S JACKSON HEIGHTS SERVICE AREA IS A HIGHLY DIVERSE POPULATION COMPRISED OF 59.8% FOREIGN-BORN, AND ALMOST HALF (45.4%) OF THE POPULATION IS BEST SERVED IN A LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH. THE PERCENTAGE OF ADULTS WITHOUT HEALTH INSURANCE IN APICHA CHC'S QUEENS SERVICE AREA IS 16.5%, COMPARED TO 8.7% FOR THE COUNTY OF QUEENS. AT APICHA CHC'S JACKSON HEIGHTS SITE, ALMOST HALF OF THE PATIENTS (47%) ARE UNINSURED, WELL ABOVE THE SERVICE AREA AND COUNTY RATES. THIS LACK OF HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE IS A SIGNIFICANT BARRIER TO THE NECESSARY MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER SERVICES NEEDED IN THE COMMUNITY. RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT BLACK, LATINX, ASIAN, AND PACIFIC ISLANDERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING DEPRESSION ARE LESS LIKELY TO BE CONNECTED TO MENTAL HEALTHCARE THAN WHITE NEW YORKERS. UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS AVOID MENTAL HEALTH CARE DUE TO FEAR AND DISTRUST. ASYLUM SEEKERS AND REFUGEES EXPERIENCE HIGHER RATES OF DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, AND POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER. THE RATE OF PSYCHIATRIC INPATIENT SERIES IN QUEENS, NY, IN 2022 IS HIGHER THAN THE STATEWIDE RATE, 3.8 PER 10,000 VERSUS 3.4 STATEWIDE. JACKSON HEIGHTS HAS SEEN AN INCREASE IN OVERDOSE DEATHS INVOLVING OPIOIDS AND NON-FATAL OPIOID-RELATED HOSPITAL EVENTS FROM 79.1 PER 100,000 IN 2019 TO 96.4 PER 100,000 IN 2021. APICHA CHC SEEKS TO LEVERAGE THE BH EXPANSION GRANT TO EXPAND MUCH-NEEDED MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER SERVICES AT THEIR JACKSON HEIGHTS SATELLITE SITE IN QUEENS, NEW YORK. FOR THE PROPOSED PROJECT, APICHA CHC WILL UTILIZE HRSA FUNDS TO HIRE BILINGUAL STAFF TO MEET THE COMMUNITY'S NEEDS, INCLUDING 1.0 FTE PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER TO PROVIDE SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER (SUD) SERVICES, MEDICATION MANAGEMENT, AND SERVE PATIENTS WITH SEVERE MENTAL ILLNESS AND 1.0 FTE MEDICAL ASSISTANT TO SUPPORT THE PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER. APICHA CHC WILL ALSO HIRE 1.0 FTE LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER FOR COUNSELING SERVICES TARGETING THE LOW-INCOME, UNINSURED POPULATION AND 2.0 FTE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CASE MANAGERS/LMSWS TO CONNECT PATIENTS TO RECEIVE THE APPROPRIATE AND TIMELY MENTAL HEALTH AND SUD SERVICES. FISCAL YEAR 2025 EXPANDED HOURS. - ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND: APICHA COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER (APICHA CHC) WAS FOUNDED IN 1989 AS THE ASIAN AND PACIFIC ISLANDER COALITION ON HIV/AIDS TO ADDRESS THE HIV/AIDS-RELATED NEEDS OF NEW YORK CITY'S (NYC) ASIAN AND PACIFIC ISLANDER (API) COMMUNITY, PARTICULARLY LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL AND TRANSGENDER (LGBT) APIS. SINCE 2015, WE HAVE BEEN OPERATING AS A FEDERALLY QUALIFIED HEALTH CENTER (FQHC), PROVIDING A FULL RANGE OF MEDICAL, PREVENTIVE HEALTH, AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES. MEDICAL SERVICES INCLUDE: PRIMARY CARE; HIV MEDICAL CARE; PREP/PEP; TRANSGENDER HEALTH; WOMEN'S HEALTH; DENTAL CARE; PEDIATRIC CARE, MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER SERVICES. IN 2022, APICHA CHC OPENED A SATELLITE SITE IN JACKSON HEIGHTS, QUEENS, NEW YORK, TO ADVANCE THE PRIMARY CARE MODEL TO A DIVERSE COMMUNITY IN JACKSON HEIGHTS. NEED FOR EXPANDED HOURS: APICHA COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER (CHC) PROPOSES TO EXPAND ITS HOURS OF OPERATION AT ITS JACKSON HEIGHTS, QUEENS CLINIC. JACKSON HEIGHTS IS ONE OF THE MOST ETHNICALLY AND CULTURALLY DIVERSE NEIGHBORHOODS IN NEW YORK CITY. IT IS HOME TO A LARGE NUMBER OF IMMIGRANTS, PARTICULARLY LATINX/HISPANICS AND ASIANS, AND A THIRD OF HOUSEHOLDS HAVE LIMITED ENGLISH PROFICIENCY. OVER ONE-IN-FIVE (22%) OF RESIDENTS LIVE IN POVERTY, COMPARED WITH 18% FOR NYC OVERALL. ACCORDING TO THE NYC DOHMH, COMMUNITY HEALTH SURVEY, 2019-2020, 30% OF ADULTS HAVE NO HEALTH INSURANCE AND 14% OF ADULTS GO WITHOUT NEEDED MEDICAL CARE. AN ESTIMATED 15% OF LOW-INCOME RESIDENTS IN THE AREA ARE REACHED BY COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTERS, INDICATING THAT THIS IS A MEDICALLY UNDERSERVED AREA. TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY FOR EXPANDED HOURS, APICHA CHC CONDUCTED A STREET SURVEY OF PEOPLE LIVING OR WORKING IN JACKSON HEIGHTS (N=103). A MAJORITY OF THE RESPONDENTS WERE SPANISH SPEAKING. FORTY PERCENT FAVORED A CLOSING TIME AFTER 5:00 PM AND 50% PREFERRED SATURDAY HOURS. APICHA CHC ALSO SOUGHT INPUT FROM VOCES LATINAS, A COLLABORATING COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATION, THAT WORKS WITH LOW-INCOME LATINX AND RECENT IMMIGRANTS. VOCES LATINAS CLIENTS WHO ARE ASSISTED THROUGH THEIR NEW IMMIGRANTS CLINIC NEED TO ACCESS SERVICES AFTER 5:00 PM WHEN THEY RETURN FROM THEIR JOBS OR ON SATURDAYS. STUDIES HAVE REPORTED THAT EXTENDED HOURS TEND TO REDUCE NO-SHOW RATES. STUDIES ON THE ACCESSIBILITY OF STI CLINICS INDICATE THAT HOURS OF OPERATION WERE A SIGNIFICANT BARRIER TO SEEKING CARE. PROPOSED SERVICES: TO BETTER MEET THE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY WE SERVE, APICHA CHC PROPOSES TO EXTEND THE HOURS OF OPERATION AT ITS JACKSON HEIGHTS CLINIC TO PROVIDE PRIMARY MEDICAL CARE, DENTAL CARE, ENABLING SERVICES, AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES. PRIMARY MEDICAL CARE AND ENABLING SERVICES: HOURS WILL BE EXTENDED FROM 5:30 PM TO 7:00 PM ON WEDNESDAYS AND THURSDAYS. DENTAL CARE: HOURS WILL BE EXTENDED FROM 5:30 PM TO 7:00 PM ON WEDNESDAYS AND THURSDAYS, AND ADDITIONALLY, THE CLINIC WILL OPEN TWO SATURDAYS PER MONTH, FROM 9:00 AM TO 4:00 PM. MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES WILL BE EXTENDED FROM 5:30 PM TO 7:00 PM ON WEDNESDAYS. FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $500,000 IS REQUESTED TO PRIMARILY COVER STAFFING COSTS. OUR MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH OF OUR COMMUNITY AND TO INCREASE ACCESS TO COMPREHENSIVE PRIMARY CARE AND OTHER SERVICES. WE PROVIDE A FULL RANGE OF MEDICAL, PREVENTIVE HEALTH, AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES. APICHA CHC IS CONTINUALLY LOOKING TO IMPROVE ITS QUALITY OF CARE AND THE EFFICIENCY OF ITS OPERATIONS. WE SERVE A PATIENT POPULATION WITH UNIQUE, OFTENTIMES COMPLEX, NEEDS AND WE OPERATE WITHIN AN ENVIRONMENT THAT IS HEAVILY DEPENDENT ON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY. AS SUCH, WE MUST ENSURE THAT WE HAVE A SUPPORTIVE INFRASTRUCTURE THAT CAN HANDLE THE DEMANDS OF SERVING OUR CLIENT BASE. TO THIS END, APICHA CHC’S PROPOSED IT INFRASTRUCTURE MODERNIZATION PROJECT WILL UPGRADE AND ADD REDUNDANCY TO THE AGENCY’S TECHNOLOGY-RELATED INFRASTRUCTURE AT ITS MANHATTAN CLINIC (400 BROADWAY, NEW YORK, NY 10013). WITH NETWORK REDUNDANCY, YOU HAVE MULTIPLE PATHS FOR INFORMATION TRAFFIC AND MORE BACK-UP OPTIONS, SO THAT DATA CAN KEEP FLOWING WITHOUT INTERRUPTION, WHICH WOULD PROVIDE STAFF WITH BETTER RELIABILITY AND PERFORMANCE. THE SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: ENSURING CONTINUOUS POWER FOR EQUIPMENT BY PROVIDING BACK-UP BATTERIES FOR SERVER ROOM EQUIPMENT; REMOVING EQUIPMENT THAT IS BEING UPGRADED, AND REWIRING CURRENT EQUIPMENT; ACHIEVING REDUNDANCY BY ESTABLISHING A SECOND IT CLOSET TO HOUSE A NEW SERVER; ACQUIRING UPGRADED AND REDUNDANT DEVICES (FIREWALLS/SWITCHES) THAT ARE KEY TO APICHA CHC'S NETWORK; MONITORING THE SERVER ROOM ENVIRONMENT TO ENSURE THE NETWORK EQUIPMENT IS SAFE AND CAN REMAIN OPERATIONAL; INSTALLING ADDITIONAL STORAGE AND MEMORY TO SERVERS; REPLACING CURRENT WIRELESS DEVICES WITH NEWER AND UPGRADED DE VICES; WIRING RUNS TO ALLOW FOR MORE PHYSICAL REDUNDANCY; AND UPGRADING WORKSTATIONS TO IMPROVE PRODUCTIVITY AND REDUNDANCY. THE PROJECT REQUIRES MINOR INTERIOR ALTERATION TO ALLOW FOR THE RUNNING OF LOW VOLTAGE (NETWORK) CABLES FROM THE 3RD FLOOR TO THE BASEMENT WHERE THE NEW BACKUP SERVER WILL BE LOCATED. THESE ACTIVITIES ALIGN WITH THE COMMUNITY PROJECT FUNDING/CONGRESSIONALLY DIRECTED SPENDING (CPF/CDS) FUNDING THAT WAS REQUESTED BY SENATOR GILLIBRAND IN SUPPORT OF APICHA CHC’S IT INFRASTRUCTURE MODERNIZATION PROJECT, AND THAT WAS APPROVED UNDER THE CONSOLIDATED APPROPRIATIONS ACT 2024. COMPLETION OF THESE ACTIVITIES WILL RESULT IN AN IT INFRASTRUCTURE THAT HAS GREATER RESILIENCY AND RELIABILITY FROM A PHYSICAL-PLANT PERSPECTIVE. WITH THIS IMPROVED PERFORMANCE, APICHA CHC STAFF CAN BETTER SERVE ITS PATIENT POPULATION WITH LIFE-SAVING PRIMARY CARE AND OTHER HEALTH AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES. AN UPGRADED NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE AND END POINT DEVICES WILL RESULT IN BETTER QUALITY OF CARE FOR OUR PATIENTS AND MORE EFFICIENT OPERATIONS FOR THE AGENCY AS A WHOLE.
