THIS EDA INVESTMENT SUPPORTS THE UPDATE AND CONTINUED IMPLEMENTATION OF A COMPREHENSIVE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY (CEDS) FOR THE RURAL COUNTY OF LAKE IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. THE UPDATED CEDS WILL ALLOW THE COUNTY TO EFFECTIVELY STRATEGIZE FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN THE REGION, PARTICULARLY TO SUPPORT THE COUNTY IN RECOVERING FROM NATURAL DISASTERS RANGING FROM WILDFIRES TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. THE UPDATED CEDS WILL ALSO ADDRESS THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED IMPACTS OF INFLATION AND SUPPLY CHAIN ISSUES IN A REGION HEAVILY RELIANT ON THE TOURISM AND RECREATION INDUSTRIES. THE CEDS PROCESS IS DESIGNED TO BRING TOGETHER THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS IN THE CREATION OF AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ROADMAP TO DIVERSIFY AND STRENGTHEN THE REGIONAL ECONOMY, AND THE UPDATED CEDS WILL ALLOW THE REGION TO EXPAND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY AND CREATE HIGH-WAGE JOBS FOR ITS' RESIDENTS.
