THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO FORGE PATHWAYS FOR A BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE FOR INCARCERATED INDIVIDUALS RETURNING TO WAYNE COUNTY AND DETROIT COMMUNITIES BY ADDRESSING SIGNIFICANT BARRIERS TO REENTRY AND PROVIDING HIGH-QUALITY TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN HIGH-DEMAND SECTORS (CONSTRUCTION, TRANSPORTATION AND LOGISTICS, MANUFACTURING, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, AND HEALTHCARE), EARNING A MEDIAN INCOME OF 6,000 OR GREATER. SERCO, AN AMERICAN JOB CENTER (AJC) PROVIDER PROCURED BY DESC AND A SUBSIDIARY OF SER METRO-DETROIT, WILL PROVIDE DIRECT PRE-RELEASE AND POST-RELEASE WORKFORCE AND REENTRY SERVICES ON BEHALF OF DESC AND SEMCA. THIS 4 MILLION REQUEST WILL SERVE 400 INMATES OF THE NEW WAYNE COUNTY CRIMINAL JUSTICE CENTER OVER 3 YEARS WITH A 10,000 TOTAL COST PER PARTICIPANT. THIS CENTER IS SET TO OPEN IN OCTOBER 2023 AND IS LOCATED AT 5520 RIVARD, DETROIT, MI 48211.THE PROJECT TEAM HAS SECURED COMMITMENTS FROM EIGHT EMPLOYER AND UNION PARTNERS AND FIVE DIRECT SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS. PARTNERS INCLUDE: CVS HEALTH, THE MICHIGAN REGIONAL COUNCIL OF CARPENTERS AND MILLWRIGHTS, CITY LIVING, IN HOME HELP, REVAMPD RENOVATIONS LLC, SOS GRAPHIC DESIGN CO, SWINT LOGISTICS GROUP, INC, TOTAL REALTY SERVICES, THE DETROIT JUSTICE CENTER, STREET DEMOCRACY, BREAKING CHAINS MENDING MINDS, DETROIT RESCUE MISSION MINISTRIES (DRMM), AND HERE TO HELP FOUNDATION. MEASURABLE PRE-RELEASE AND POST RELEASE OUTCOMES INCLUDE INDICATORS AROUND JOB READINESS, OCCUPATIONAL TRAINING, QUANTIFIABLE SKILLS GAIN, TRANSITIONAL EMPLOYMENT, EMPLOYMENT AFTER PROGRAM COMPLETION, MEDIAN EARNINGS, AND REDUCED RECIDIVISM.
