UMBC RESEARCH PARK CORPORATION, INC. (RPC) PROPOSES THE CONTINUATION OF ITS PARTNERSHIP WITH THE U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY (USGS), MARYLAND-DELAWARE-D.C. (MD-DE-DC) WATER SCIENCE CENTER (WSC). PERFORMANCE PERIOD 4 1 2024-03 31 2025 BUDGET YEAR 1FULL PERFORMANCE PERIOD 4 1 2024-03 31 2029 BUDGET YEARS 1-5THIS AGREEMENT WOULD ALLOW RPC TO CONTINUE TO HOUSE WSC IN A DEDICATED 23,500 SQUARE FOOT FACILITY AT 5522 RESEARCH PARK DRIVE IN THE BWTECH UMBC RESEARCH TECHNOLOGY PARK. THIS FIVE-YEAR AGREEMENT WILL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE FACILITIES SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR THE USGS, INCLUDING LABORATORIES, PRIVATE OFFICES, CONFERENCE ROOMS, AND A WAREHOUSE FOR USE AS A STAGING AREA FOR CONSTRUCTION OF USGS MONITORING STATIONS. THIS FUNDING WILL ALSO ALLOW RPC TO MAKE THE FOLLOWING IMPROVEMENTS: INSTALLATION OF A 250 TO 300 KW DIESEL GENERATOR, INCLUDING DESIGN, SITE PREPARATION, AND SECURITY. DESIGN AND INSTALLATION OF A NEW ENTRY GATE SYSTEM WITH KEYPAD, EXIT LOOP, AND BOLLARDS. DESIGN AND INSTALLATION OF THREE EV CHARGING STATIONS.THE NEW PROPOSED AGREEMENT INCLUDES A BASE RENTAL RATE OF 39.77 PER SQUARE FOOT FOR YEAR ONE. THIS RATE WILL INCREASE BY 2.5 ANNUALLY FOR THE REMAINING FOUR YEARS. WSC HAS BEEN HOUSED IN THE BWTECH RESEARCH PARK FOR OVER 15 YEARS. BECAUSE OF ITS PROXIMITY TOTHE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND BALTIMORE COUNTY, THE WSC HAS CONDUCTED COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH WITH THE UNIVERSITY AND PROVIDED REAL-WORLD OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS WHICH ENCOURAGES CAREERS IN EARTH SCIENCE. THIS FUNDING WILL CREATE ADDITIONAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR UMBC STUDENTS AND GRADUATES AND ALLOW WSC TO STRENGTHEN ITS RESEARCH PROGRAM AND PROVIDE A SECURE HOME FOR ITS DATA STREAMS
